H.E. Amb. Stella – Mokaya Orina met with Olaf Deutschbein, Head of UNIDO ITPO Office Berlin, to discuss deepening collaboration between UNIDO and Kenyan companies and organizations!

The discussion built upon the outcomes of the German-African Business Summit (GABS) 2024 in Nairobi, and a high-level roundtable with Kenyan President H.E. William Samoei Ruto PHD in Berlin.

At the meeting, discussion was about areas where UNIDO’s expertise can play a transformative role in boosting hashtag#SustainableDevelopment and delivering tangible benefits:

Skilled Workforce – Strengthening vocational training and youth empowerment to benefit both Kenyan and German economies.

Driving Industrial Growth & Investment – Enhancing rural development through UNIDO’s Agro-Industrial Parks and value addition in agriculture.

Reducing Post-Harvest Losses – Improving food security and expanding market access for farmers.

Scaling Renewable Energy Solutions – Expanding sustainable energy access, particularly in rural areas.

Advancing Circular Economy Initiatives – Promoting sustainable production and responsible waste management.

The meeting was also followed by Mr. Detschbein’s visit to UNIDO’s Agro-Industrial Park in Sironga, Nyamira County and sustainable tea production — a trip wonderfully co-organized by the Kenyan Embassy in Berlin. The productive discussions with the Governor underscored Nyamira County’s commitment to fostering industrial innovation and revealed immense potential for strategic collaboration and investment, particularly with the Maschinenring Foundation.

This ever-deepening Kenya-UNIDO partnership is a strategic step forward in agriculture, industrialization, and renewable energy. Kenya and Germany look forward to continuing these fruitful discussions and driving joint initiatives with Kenyan stakeholders.
