From 01.01.2024, an electronic travel authorization (eTA) is required for ALL visitors (foreigners except citizens of EAC member states) including infants and children, to enter the Republic of Kenya.

eTA on arrival is NOT possible! and has to be applied online. See the process below.

Already paid and issued eVisas are valid and can be used to enter Kenya until the expiry of their validity. You do NOT need an eTA when you have a valid visa.

How to Apply for an eTA to Kenya

  1. Visit the Official eTA Portal
    Go to www.etakenya.go.ke, the official Government of Kenya Electronic Travel Authorization website.

  2. Create an Account
    Register by providing your email address and creating a secure password.

  3. Start a New Application
    Log in and click on “Apply for eTA”, then select your travel category (e.g., tourism, business, transit).

  4. Fill in the Application Form
    Provide accurate personal information, travel details, accommodation address in Kenya, and reason for travel.

  5. Upload Required Documents
    Typical documents include:

    • A clear copy of your passport bio-data page

    • Passport-size photo

    • Return flight ticket

    • Accommodation details or invitation letter

  6. Review & Pay
    Double-check your details, then make payment via the available online payment methods. The standard fee is USD 30 (subject to change).

  7. Receive Confirmation
    After successful submission, you’ll receive an email confirming receipt of your application.

  8. Wait for Approval
    Processing takes about 3 working days. You’ll be notified by email once your eTA is approved.

  9. Download and Print Your eTA
    Log in to your account to download and print the approved eTA document. Present it at the port of entry upon arrival in Kenya.
